Sunday Morning: Fridges...(Part 2)

We spent two hours in custody, we were in separate cells.  After two boring hours we were released without a by your leave.  The driver of the taxi was definitely dead we should of at least been held for questioning but they let us go, why?  I will have to assume for now that Galesh has a very long arm indeed..

Louise did not look too bad, my head had been treated at the scene by the emergency services.  They had said it was a minor cut nothing to worry about, a mere flesh wound.  Louise told me that a policemen had informed her that her car had been sabotaged and that they had fixed for her, apparently a fair number of the coppers had been really sympathetic regarding the ordeal she went through.  Whereas I was never even spoken to and I was the one with the bleeding head.

As we were leaving a police car rolled up, the cop inside said he would give us a lift to Louise's car.  Louise said it was all right she recognised him from earlier.  We climbed in the back, sitting there I was expecting something to happen, I was not disappointed.  The cop said, “Inspector Galesh expects you to stay in the county...” and then he said more to Louise than me “I'd be careful Miss if I were you, nobody I talk to seems to know who Galesh really is but he has the backing from the very top.  Quite a scary guy if you ask me.”  Louise thanked him for his concern.

Arriving back at Louise's car there was another copper leaning against a tree, I was beginning to think Galesh was not taking any chances.  Louise introduced me to PC. Paul as the one that fixed her car for her.

We arrived at Jackson's Kitchen supplies without incident, the salesman recognised me and said “Ah! Mr Wallace isn't, how is the fridge?” “Fine, considering it fell thirty flights from my office the other day.”  I replied perhaps a little loudly, before he could make comment on this I decided to take the bull by it's horns, “When you sold me the fridge you told me it had a new feature but you glossed over what exactly it was, since I was rushed at the time I didn't bother pursuing it.  I am not rushed now however, would you care to enlighten me?”  The salesman looked at both of us and said “It is fortunate that your fridge was destroyed, I had a sales rep. from Corcas Electronics the other day telling me that they had all been recalled because of a potential fire risk.  He wanted to the names of the people I had sold them to, so they could offer a full refund.  Y'know Mr Wallace I had to lead him out of the shop and tell him that is private information.” He paused for breadth and then continued “It is odd you know a day later we were broken into but nothing was taken, the police put it down to vandalism although we've never and I mean never had any problems like that before...”  I said quickly while there was a brief pause in his constant stream and asked “But what was the new feature?” “Oh that!  Some new power filter or something, I believe it was called the KAT battery.  Suppose to cut power spikes out, well at least that is what their sales rep told at the time, they sold like hot cakes...”

He went on like with mindless small talk for another half an hour.  Louise managed to pull us away by shouting some woman's name, “Please excuse us sir , there is an old friend just outside that I want Wallace to speak to.”  We left.  There was no one outside.

KAT battery, power spikes I think not.  Probably something more important than that.

What is Corcas hiding?

We had a power cut this evening right in the middle me cooking roast lamb for Louise.

The news was all about problems with nuclear power stations round the world again.
